What is New2Seattle?
New2Seattle is a social organization designed as a resource for newcomers to the Seattle area, who are looking to meet people, try new places and connect to the community. New2Seattle is also the go to organization for locals looking to rediscover the vibrancy of Seattle. New2Seattle hosts monthly no cost socials at local restaurants and bars to give people an opportunity to mingle and meet other newcomers, as well as locals who can provide insiders’ information to make the transition to Seattle a smooth one. In addition, New2Seattle provides an online community where we actively post community news, information about upcoming events, and insiders’ tips that is invaluable to people new to the city. And because there are so many uniquely Seattle activities to learn about, New2Seattle hosts social learning events that shine a light on how to become part of the fabric of Seattle.
Who is New2Seattle?
The New2Seattle community a group of people at varying stages of newness. Whether we moved here 2 weeks, 2 months, 2 years, or even 2 decades ago, everyone has a unique story about where they came from and what brought them here, but all are looking to meet new people. Where did you relocate from and how long have you been here are common questions. So common, we include them on our nametags, along with our names of course.
What’s our story? We relocated to Seattle from Brooklyn, NY in 2009 looking for greater access to the beautiful outdoors while still being part of a bustling city. Three years later we realized there were a lot of folks just like us that were also new to Seattle, looking for ways to connect to each other and to the community. After hearing about a friend’s similar experience in Louisville, KY and loving the New2Lou model we decided to bring it to Seattle. In May 2013 we founded New2Seattle and hosted our first social. We love meeting new people, hearing your stories, and helping make connections. That is why it is our mission to connect new people in a social environment and support your transition to Seattle.
